Eyelit's Software Suite to be Deployed in Network of State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Plants throughout Asia and North America
January 23, 2008
SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Eyelit Inc., a manufacturing software
provider for visibility, control, and coordination of manufacturing operations
for the aerospace & defense, electronics, life sciences, semiconductor and solar
industries, announced today that A123Systems, one of the world's leading
suppliers of high-power lithium-ion batteries, has selected Eyelit's Enterprise
Manufacturing Execution Suite (MES) to provide a cost-effective manufacturing
software infrastructure for its global manufacturing network.
With over $132 million in private funding to date from a variety of high-profile investors, A123Systems is developing and delivering the next generation
of battery technology for such applications as Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs)
and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). Built on new, highly active nanoscale
material initially developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, A123Systems
is transforming the landscape of battery manufacturing.
"We selected Eyelit because of ease and speed of implementation,
Eyelit's strong customer service record, and full MES functionality.
We like the platform independence and feel it has the best, most modern
architecture and scalability to meet our global needs," said Ben Nunes,
Project Manager for A123Systems.
The Eyelit solution will be deployed in a series of A123Systems manufacturing
plants in Asia. Initial deployment will occur in the coating and cell plants,
providing complete product and component tracking and traceability, quality management,
and Oracle ERP integration.
"Selecting Eyelit's software is a critical step in building our company and manufacturing
software infrastructure in China. It will help us achieve our production ramp and product
quality goals quickly and efficiently. I've had experience with other MES systems and was
very impressed with Eyelit's overall capability, particularly Eyelit's Quality Management
module," stated Vice President of Operations Louis Golato.
"We are excited about our first deployment in China and our continued market momentum
with alternative energy companies. A123Systems, along with our rapidly expanding
photovoltaic (PV) solar panel customer base, are bringing the next generation of
energy products to the market place. This selection further demonstrates Eyelit's
product flexibility and our interest in assisting emerging technology companies
like A123Systems deliver green technologies," says Dan Estrada, Vice President of Sales and
Business Development.
